Food Revolution, The: How Your Diet Can Help Save Your Life and Our World

in Diet Menus

Product Description
In 1987, John Robbins published Diet for a New America, which was an early version of this book, and he started the food revolution. He continues to work tirelessly to promote conscious food choices more than 20 years later.

First published in 2001, The Food Revolution is still one of the most frequently cited and talked about books of the food-politics revolution. It was one of the very first books to discuss the negative health effects of eating genetically modified foods and animal products of all kinds, to expose the dangers inherent in our factory farming system, and to advocate a complete plant-based diet.

The book garnered endorsements by everyone from Paul Hawken to Neal Donald Walsch, Marianne Williamson to Julia Butterfly Hill. After ten years in print, The Food Revolution is timelier than ever–and a very compelling read. The 10th anniversary edition has an updated, new contemporary look and a new introduction by the author.

Yes any vegitarian can come up with great arguments as to why we should not eat meat, this book is no different. My reply to all people who have the ability to pick their diet is, meat eaters as well, “Don’t you feel great that we live in a country that has a cornicopia of food, that we even have the ability to chose what we can and cannot eat?” I have been to many places in the world twhere food is very scarce. Because of who was governing their country, nothing else, was the reason there was no food. The Leaders of the country kept the food away from the masses, this is done as a way to controle the masses. Oh yes, how come a lot of the vegeterians I know smoke (which is way worse than meat} tell people to be vegeterians. Are they vegetarians because it’s cool. Smoking is also cool(sarcasm).
My main point is that we in the US can pick any type of diet we want, we should be thankful for that.

Robbin’s assertions have been long demolished by serious scientists, yet his tone of utter righteousness seems to offset that. His draconian recomendations are particularly dangerous for children. American needs a more balanced view of nutrition, such as the ADA’s food pyramid.

John Robbins writes very convincing books. Unfortunately, almost none of his “factual” information is true.

I once spent a week of spare time fact-checking a four paragraph portion of his book finding that his “facts” are fallacious, his statistics misrepresentative, and his expert “quotes” are out-of-context and sometimes reverse the true opinion of the source.

The data in this book are not reliable and present a dangerously false view of the subject.

I ordered The Food Revolution as a gift. I had absolutely “zero” problems with this transaction. PS. I love this book/author.
